Writing about yourself isn’t easy. In fact, it’s an overwhelming task for most teenagers. My name is Carson Buck, and I’m passionate about helping students find their voice. My mission is to use my skills as a writer and editor to aid college bound students in crafting memorable essays for their college applications.

Working together, we will break down the essay process into small assignments.  Idea generation, free form writing, and multiple drafts are all elements we'll work through together. As well, we will build a timeline, setting deadlines for each assignment, taking into account students' academic, athletic, and work lives.

I've worked as a writer and editor my entire career, first at Penguin Books, then as a marketing and communications professional across multiple industries. I have an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of San Francisco and undergraduate degrees in History and Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

As an experienced editor, writer, and essay counselor with expertise in the college admissions process, I tap into students' creativity to highlight the writer inside each of them. My process teaches students how to write well-crafted essays that succeed in capturing the eye of admissions officers, as well as teaching students writing skills vital to success once they begin their college careers.
